How do you feel about the state of the St. Louis Public School System? Have you or would you consider moving out of the city in hopes of giving your child/children a better education?

I am now a resident of St. Louis county and live in a super crappy school district. I now drive 30 minutes to west county for private school for my first grader. But my hubby has informed me that we will not be able to send the kids to private school next year. My son will be in kg next year and that would mean we would be paying $800 per month instead of the $400 we are paying now. So, I'm pretty much at a loss. I am pretty much at a loss.
My saving grace may either be magnet school in the city or charter school in the city. I have placed my kids into the lottery for both. If you're wondering how I could send my kids to school in the city..we own some properties in the city and even though we don't reside there, we still pay taxes so I think, ethically, it is ok. T

Sorry, I cut myself off. I do feel that the state of the schools in the city and in many of the municipalities are not so good. It seems to me that a kid that lives in Clayton or Chesterfield will get a grade A education and a kid that lives in jennings or Normandy not gonna fare as well. It is sad.
